Rebuilding Communities & Restoring Hope – Black Contractors United Inc.
Founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the organization was established to support the rebuilding and revitalization of New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward, one of the communities most severely impacted by the disaster. Beginning in January 2006, efforts focused on constructing homes, restoring neighborhoods, and helping families return to their communities with dignity and hope. As recovery efforts expanded, the organization worked closely with local residents, community leaders, and government agencies to secure resources and accelerate rebuilding initiatives. To increase access to government assistance and strengthen long-term recovery programs, BCU was established as a platform to support housing development, community investment, and sustainable growth. Over the next fourteen years, the organization remained deeply committed to the region, contributing to the restoration of homes, the revitalization of neighborhoods, and the rebuilding of a stronger future for the people of New Orleans. Later on in 2010 was acquired and merged with Diaz Construction and Development.

Founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lexington Recovery Homes was established to provide safe, supportive housing for individuals recovering from COVID-19, drug addiction, alcohol dependency, and other life challenges. Serving the Greater Chicago area, the organization was created with a mission to help people rebuild their lives, achieve long-term recovery, and become productive members of their communities. Through compassionate care, structured recovery support, and community-focused programs, Lexington Recovery Homes has helped countless individuals find stability, hope, and a path forward. As the organization continued to grow and expand its impact, it was later acquired and merged into Diaz Construction & Development, Inc., in 2022. ensuring its mission of restoring lives and strengthening communities would continue for years to come.
